Guide to Mismatched Bridesmaid Dresses

Breaking away from the usual gallery blog post to share something I really love! When I receive galleries from my clients, I tend to save a bunch of pics of the bridal party with their bouquets, naturally. Especially when the dresses have some dimension or whimsical aspect! When I was wedding planning back in 2021, I knew I wanted my bridesmaids to have a less traditional look but still feel formal and coordinated. It truly did take some time to figure out, so I thought I would share some of what I learned to save you the stress!

To start, I chose one color out of my overall palette (between soft pastels of blue/pink/yellow) and landed with shades of blush. I thought this felt super feminine and added a pink element I felt my wedding was lacking. Beyond that, I tried to shoot for all of them to have a neutral tone. From there, I decided they would all have floor-length dresses for the one piece of cohesiveness holding it together. Other than that, they had a mix of fabrics and styles. I didn’t want my girls to spend over $100, so I did get lucky and found several of these on sale. If you have to Poshmark them, there is no harm in that!!

From left to right:

Dear Cleo - Zoey Dress in Shell

Tulle and Chantilly - Tulle One Shoulder Gown in Dusty Rose

Shona Joy - Cowl Neck Satin Gown in Rose (bought from Nordstrom)

Jenny Yoo - Ryder Convertible Dress in Soft Blush (bought from BHLDN)

Tulle and Chantilly - Cowl Neck Chiffon Dress in Dusty Rose

Amsale - Marisa Bridesmaid Dress in Rose Quartz (bought from Bella Bridesmaid)

And because I’m such a huge floral print lover, we aren’t done yet! For my wedding, I had some of my college besties in my house party + knew they had to wear floral. I didn’t want there to be too much variety, so I opted for matching dresses in a blue floral print from Sugar Lips. I am so happy with how the overall look turned out and I hope this helps with all your bridesmaid dress needs!
